The Native Plant & Landscape Restoration Nursery is a new campus and community ecology project created by faculty and graduate and undergraduate students at Washington State University. The project was initiated partly to respond to the challenges of conserving and restoring native Palouse Prairie, widely recognized as one of the most endangered grassland ecosystems in North America.
The nursery sponsors teaching, research, and public education on ecological restoration, biodiversity conservation, landscape ecology, and the design and development of sustainable landscapes.
The Native Plant & Landscape Restoration Nursery supports:
Development of the WSU Arboretum & Botanical Garden.
Creation of outdoor ecological laboratories and natural areas to advance support for conserving biological diversity on sustainable landscapes.
Ecological restoration and conservation of biological diversity in the Palouse Prairie bioregion.
The scientific study, design, and development of sustainable agricultural, rural, and urban landscapes in arid western environments in the Pacific Northwest.
