The
WSU Campus & Community Ecology Project is
a new, university-wide project devoted to uniting the efforts of students,
faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and our surrounding communities
and cities to work on campus greening, building design, energy use,
purchasing, recycling, transportation, and related sustainability
issues.
WSU has recently joined the Campus Ecology Program of the
National Wildlife Federation. By doing so, WSU is part of a growing
national community of university and college campuses working towards
the betterment of humanity through economic, social, and ecological
sustainability and the long-term conservation of the natural world.
One of primary efforts of the WSU Campus & Community Ecology Project will be to engage the University community to design and formally adopt a green campus policy.
The Native Plant Nursery has submitted its
first
annual report on its activities and related campus ecology issues
to the NWF Campus Ecology web site. This annual report, along with
other resources, is also available in the
Publications listing for
the Native Plant Nursery.
The WSU Campus & Community
Ecology Project offers opportunities for students to participate in
campus conservation projects, environmental education activities,
research, and action projects on WSU campuses and in the community.
